About our school

Rockdale Public School has a tradition of educational excellence and a history of outstanding sporting achievements, supported by the most dynamic and dedicated teachers. Rockdale Public School serves a vibrant, caring community that values our culturally diverse society. The school provides programs to educate students to successfully meet the challenges of the 21st century in an inclusive multicultural society. The school’s ethos and values promote a sense of belonging, self-worth, respect for others, high expectations and love of learning. The school’s purpose is encapsulated in our motto ‘Think About The Future Today Or Live In The Past Tomorrow’. We are well resourced and provide students access to the latest technologies. A modern computer lab, interactive whiteboards and innovative software ensure the best start for every child.

The school offers a broad range of extension and enrichment programs for gifted and talented students in academics, sport and creative and performing arts. The school has a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy as well as student empowerment initiatives. Public speaking and debating programs are highly valued. All students are supported to maximise their learning through stage-based literacy and numeracy sessions. An Early School Support Program and Reading Recovery Program assist students requiring additional support.

In 2010, the school was awarded a ‘Director General’s Award’ for School Achievement for the programs and learning opportunities the school provides for all learners. Our core values of honesty, respect, co-operation, responsibility, fairness and excellence are embedded in the school curriculum and in our Student Well-Being Programs. The school plays an important role in the community by promoting a welcoming and friendly culture that strengthens the close partnership with parents and the wider community. Parental input is highly valued. The school’s ‘Parents Make the Difference’ program assists parents to effectively support their children’s learning.
